KEY POINTS
Here are 3 Important reasons why subtitles can help you get more views on YouTube:
1. They appeal to multilingual audiences and provide accessibility to your video content for the deaf or hard of hearing.
2. You increase your video’s discoverability because your subtitles get indexed for search (SEO – Search Engine Optimisation).
3. People watch video on mobile a lot! So Subtitles help audiences watch videos on mute on their Mobile devices. This makes for a more appropriate watch experience.
YouTube makes it easy to use the caption feature. Watch how here:
Bottom line: Subtitles are also known as Closed Captions. They are important. They are helpful and inclusive, and make your video content accessible to more and more people. This way, everybody can be part of your story. If you’ve got something important to share, make it heard and make it seen by everyone.
By making subtitles available you reach out to more people who will be glad you offer them the option of tuning into your videos.

Great points about checking analytics to see all the countries we receive views from on our channels and serving those who can not ear.
Do you use Closed Captions in your YouTube videos? What is your experience?
"Big up" TOLIS
Thanks for the great advice Tolis ! In my own videos, I see very often comments of people who say something like “watch video with subtitles at xx sec and xx minutes”. Because these people watched the video with subtitles, and found something funny in the subtitles (that someone added)! So there is also a humoristic dimension to the subtitles, as you mentioned.
I would like YouTube to show me some analytics about how many people watch with subtitles.
Can’t wait for the next video !!!
Hi Tolis, great video, how can one go back and add CCs to past videos?
Would that help boost views?
